Privacy Policy

The short version

• No account, no login, no newsletter, no credit card.
• Your video and its audio are never uploaded to us. Your browser downloads the video and does the speech recognition locally.
• We keep no copy of your transcript. When you close the tab, it is gone.
• One thing does leave your device: the Instagram link you paste. It is sent to our resolver so we can find the video behind it. See below.

What happens to the link you paste

When you submit a link, your browser sends it to our own resolver service, which runs on Cloudflare. The resolver checks that it really is a public instagram.com post, Reel or IGTV link and rejects anything else.

To find the video file behind that link, our resolver then queries a third-party data provider, Bright Data (api.brightdata.com). That means the Instagram link you pasted is passed to Bright Data for the purpose of looking up that post’s public record. Their handling of it is governed by their own privacy policy, not ours.

Our resolver returns the direct video URL, along with a few public details about the post (the account name, the posting date, the like count and the content type). These are used only to display your result and are not stored by us.

What happens to the video and the audio

The video file is downloaded by your browser directly from Instagram’s content delivery network, not through us. It is never uploaded to our servers, and we cannot see it.

The audio is then decoded by your browser’s own audio engine and transcribed by a speech-recognition model called Whisper, which runs entirely inside your browser tab using WebAssembly. No audio and no partial audio is sent to any transcription service, because there is no transcription service — the recognition happens on your machine.

Third-party services your browser contacts

Like any website, loading this page involves other companies who will see your IP address and standard request information (such as your browser version). Those are:

• Cloudflare — serves this website and runs our resolver. Cloudflare applies its own standard network and security logging.
• Bright Data — receives the Instagram link you paste, as described above.
• jsDelivr — delivers the speech-recognition library your browser downloads.
• Hugging Face — delivers the Whisper model weights your browser downloads on first use. Your browser caches them afterwards.
• Instagram / Meta — your browser fetches the video file from their CDN, which necessarily reveals your IP to them.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics. The only browser storage involved is your browser’s ordinary cache, which may keep the Whisper model files so the next visit loads faster. Clearing your cache removes them.

This site does not currently display advertising. Third-party advertising may be added in the future. If it is, those advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure and personalise ads. This page will be updated before that happens, and any such change will be reflected in the “last updated” date above.

Your transcript

The finished transcript exists only in your browser tab. “Copy” puts it on your clipboard; “Download .txt” saves it to your own device. We never receive it and we have no way to retrieve it after you close the page.

Children

This service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since we do not collect personal information from anyone, there is nothing for us to delete on request.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date at the top of this page will change with it. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
